Making the Most of Beijing: The Y3-5 Guide Book 充分享受北京：3-5年级指南

Every August YCIS Beijing welcomes new students and families to the school. For many, it is their first time in Beijing and living away from home. To help our new arrivals settle in in August, Primary school students have been working on a guide book, introducing their favourite places, activities, restaurants and offering advice on getting around. 

每年八月，北京耀中国际学校欢迎新生和家庭来到学校。对于许多人来说，这是他们第一次来到北京，远离家乡。为了帮助我们的新家庭在8月安顿下来，小学生一直在制作旅行指南，介绍他们最喜欢的地方、活动、餐馆并提供有关游览的建议。

Students were allowed to choose from one of the above areas and work in groups or independently. The project lasted for 4 weeks in the run up to the end of term, involving careful planning and research, and then presenting their tips and ideas in an exciting and colourful way.

学校允许学生们从上述领域中选择一个，分组或独立工作。该项目在学期结束前持续了4周，需要进行精心的策划和研究，然后以丰富多彩的形式展现他们的点子和想法。

“There are many ways in which we help families relocating to Beijing for the first time”, explained Ms Sara Wramner, Assistant Admissions Manager. “Being smaller than some schools, we are able to provide a more personal service in the Admissions Department – offering advice where possible on things that extend beyond school, such as summer camps and getting around. However, having a guidebook written entirely by the children is a first, and it is a pleasure to read about why they love living in Beijing. I’m sure their tips will go down very well!”

助理招生经理Sara Wramner女士解释说：“我们有很多方法帮助第一次到北京的家庭”。 “正因为学校规模不大，我们的招生部门才能提供更加个性化的服务—尽可能的提供有关校外事宜的建议，例如夏令营和游览。然而，完全由孩子们写指南是第一次，很高兴可以看到他们为什么喜欢在北京生活。我相信他们的提示会很顺利的推广出去!”

“Our students have an infectious enthusiasm for Beijing”, commented Y4 Co-Teacher Mr James Honey. “In doing this project, we hope that their love for the city can be shared with new students and families, and generate a general sense of excitement and positivity around living in Beijing for the start of the academic year.”

“我们学生对北京的热情充满了感染力”，四年级教师James Honey先生评论道。 “在这个项目中，我们希望他们能够与新生和家庭分享对这座城市的热爱，让他们对即将在北京开始的生活，产生兴奋和积极感。”
